The PSPL supports geographically based recreational leagues that aim to maximize competition and fun while minimizing travel. Our rec leagues promote the passion of the sport of soccer, offer quality training and keep friends playing together.
That's why we give our rec clubs the option to follow the new USSF birth year guidelines or continue to stick with school-year age guidelines. We believe strongly that one of the great merits of recreational soccer is being able to play with your friends!
For Fall 2016, the PSPL will operate two recreational leagues: the South Puget Sound Rec League and the East Puget Sound Rec League.
The South Puget Sound Rec League's boundaries mainly includes east and south Pierce Counties - from Maple Valley in the north to Sumner and Puyallup to the east and Tacoma in the south.
The East Puget Sound Rec League's boundaries are exclusively central King County -- primarily Bellevue, Kirkland, Mercer Island and Renton areas.
Each league has the flexibility to design a competitive format that fits its goals and aspirations for the recreational soccer player. Our leagues generally begin at the 9-year-old age designation and play 7v7; the leagues can field teams up to high school ages depending on demand. Teams play a ten-game season.
We offer a Puget Sound Cup tournament in early December for all recreational teams that want to end their fall season with a local tournament that draws on teams from throughout the region.
We believe Rec Soccer is a vital and necessary component of putting all players first! As we evolve US Club - sanctioned rec leagues, we will keep our focus on making all players better - and keeping costs low!
